At Triptych Education, we care about your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the National 5 Computing Science app (“Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

This Policy applies to individuals (learners, parents, teachers) and schools using the Service.

Information we collect

a. Account Registration

You may use the app without registering, or sign in with a Google Account.

If you register, we collect: name, email address, age/year group, and school (if provided).

Schools may also register learners under a licence arrangement.

b. Learning Progress & User-Generated Content

We collect information about your learning activity, including progress, answers, comments, and notes.

Teachers with school accounts may be able to view their learners’ progress.

User-generated content must follow our Terms of Service and safeguarding rules.

c. Profile Information

If you create an account, you may add optional information (e.g. display name, avatar).

Personal contact details (email, phone) are never public.

d. Technical Information

We collect technical data such as device type, operating system, log data, and IP address to improve app performance and security.

e. Cookies & Analytics

We use essential cookies for login and session management.

We may use analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics) to understand how the Service is used, but not for advertising.

No targeted advertising is shown in the app.

Data retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active or as required by schools.

Progress data is normally deleted within 12 months of account closure, unless a school requires longer retention.

Anonymised learning data may be retained indefinitely for research and improvement.

Child users

Users under 16 must register with parental or school consent.

We collect only the minimum information necessary.

Child accounts cannot share personal details publicly.

Safeguarding is a priority, and teachers/parents may request data access or deletion at any time.

Schools and licences

Schools using the Service under licence act as Data Controllers for their learners’ data.

Triptych Education acts as a Data Processor, handling data only on the school’s instructions.

Schools are responsible for obtaining parental consent where required.

Dispute resolution

If you have a complaint, please contact us first.

We will seek to resolve issues through informal mediation.

If unresolved, disputes may be referred to the courts of Scotland.

Data transfers

We store and process data primarily in the United Kingdom.
If we use service providers outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app or via email (if available) at least 7 days before they take effect.
